PRESIDENT’S CORNER
With the 2012 season in full swing, more
members than ever are enjoying the tremendous variety of events offered by
our club. Perched upon the wings of this enjoyment rests a heightened sense of
responsibility to insure that our rules governing safety and general range
use are faithfully adhered to. Board members and match directors will be
randomly spot-checking the ranges in order to help educate members should
the need arise. Please take a few moments to review our rules and remember
that you are required to have your membership credentials on your
person while on club property and must present them to any club official
if asked to do so. Also please remember to properly dispose of your trash by
placing it into one of the many barrels throughout the facility or simply take
it back home with you. We have one of the nicest and most diverse clubs
in the state, so please respect it and your fellow enthusiasts by doing
your part to keep it clean. We are anticipating one of the best years
ever, so come out and support your favorite activity.
Kevin
Please Be Careful:
It is our club rule that eye and ear
protection be utilized on all of our shooting ranges. Infractions have recently
been reported. This is for your own protection. It has also been reported that
rocks and other non-approved targets have been found on Range 7. Please
cooperate with us on this.
Work Hour Opportunities/Work Parties:
A work party is scheduled for May 5 from
8:00-12:00. This will include cleaning of all the ranges and the club roads.
Contact Steve Schneckenburger @ 309-692-7807. All
ranges (with the exception of 1) will be closed during that period. At the same
time an indoor work party will take place in the club house to de-lead and
paint. Contact Bob Bjerke @ 309-692-1800
Events (From Our Event Directors):
June: 1911 Pistol Match
To celebrate over 100 years of John M.
Browning's legendary 1911 pistol, there will be a competitive match
held exclusively for these firearms on Saturday June 2nd from 9:00am until
3:00pm. If the weather is nice, the match will be held on Range 1.
If it's raining, we will use our indoor range in the lower level of the club
house. The goal of this event is simply to have some fun with the
world's finest pistols. The course of fire is simple and somewhat challenging,
but not overly so. You do not have to be a highly experienced competitor
to take part. All you need to join the fun is a single-action 1911
style pistol in a centerfire caliber, hearing and eye
protection, a couple of magazines, a belt holster, and 50 rounds of ammunition
(bring more ammo if you want to shoot the course more than once). The entry fee
is only $3. Each re-shoot is equally cheap, $3. Prizes will be
awarded. To receive an informational bulletin on the match, contact
Kevin Hutchison at blitzkrg@mtco.com.

Club Dues For 2013
Per the recommendation of our Planning
Committee, and approved by the Board of Directors, 2013 Annual Member Dues will
be set at $100. The Work Hour structure and Land Fund Fee will remain the same.
As our membership approaches 1000, the
Planning Committee feels that capital improvements are necessary to better
serve our members. This will mean more shooting ranges, improvements to our
roads, and existing facilities.
