2011 WORK HOURS:

  INDOOR: -- Indoor Range Cleanup - 9AM, 10SEPT2011  (Clubhouse in use-Hunter Ed)        

OUTDOOR:-- Grounds: The next work party is on September 3rd at 8:00AM.  Please bring chainsaws, tree trimming equipment, weedwackers. Range 5 will be closed until after the work party  is  done.   For more info, contact Steve Schneckenburger @ (309)692-

CSC Fall Gun Show 

The CSC 2011 Fall Gun Show will be on the 24th  (9 AM—4 PM) & 25th (9 AM—3 PM) of  September, 2011.  Come out and see all the latest guns and accessories.  Work hour credits will be available on Friday, Sept. 23rd  (9 AM) for set-up and on Sunday, Sept. 25th (3 PM) for clean-up.

CSC KING SHOOT

The Chillicothe Sportsmens Club King shoot will be held on Range #1 at 10 AM on Sunday September 25th.  Along with the King Shoot there will be a bird shoot and speed shoot.  Bring your 22 rimfires and enjoy the day.  For more information Contact Chris Bach at 309-256-1712.

HELP

Grounds committee is looking for 2 - 3 persons with pickups that would once a week check the target frames and backboards on ranges 1,5,6,7 for me. Take out shot up frames, place in garage, replace target frames from spares. They would notify me of any backboards that need replacement. Contact Steven C. GARAND RAFFLE

 

Congratulations to Jeff Crisman winner of the M1 Garand raffle from the CMP.  Watch the newsletter for the next raffle from the CMP when we will be raffling off a Gibbs 1903-A4 Springfield sniper rifle. 

                                                                               

  APPLESEED DATE CHANGE

 

The Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic for Sept. 3 & 4 has been cancelled and replaced by the following:  Two Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinics have been scheduled for CSC this fall.  They are Oct. 1-2, 2011 and Nov. 5-6, 2011, Range 1 starting at 8:30 a.m.  For registration information, call Carol Wylie at 309-369-4863.

 

 

Rifle Marksmanship Clinic

  

A Rifle Marksmanship Clinic will be held at CSC on Saturday, 3 September 2011 on range 1 from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Topics covered include:  Safety, Proper Shooting Techniques, Sling Usage, Scope/Sight Adjustment in Minutes of Angle, and more.  Bring your rifle (.22rf – 8mm) and about 300 rounds of ammo.  Cost is $20/per shooter.  Contact Cliff Wilcox at (309) 579-2793.

 

CMP Bolt Action Match

 

During the 2nd relay of the October 15th CMP match we will be having a vintage military bolt action match.  Legal rifles are any open sighted military surplus bolt action or straight pull rifle.  This match will be the same as a standard CMP match but add an additional 10 seconds to both rapid fire segments and use a SR1 target the whole match.  So come out with your vintage military rifle and give it a work out.  We will also be having the annual CMP picnic after this match. 

NEW RANGE NUMBERS

The CSC Ranges have been re-numbered.  These new Range numbers will be in use on the newsletter calendars beginning with the September issue of the Newsletter.

The following are the new range numbers:

    RANGE       LOCATION   

1  --      100 yard range

2  --      Trap range

3  --      Short lakeside range (NEW) (just north of Cowboy Town)

4  --      Cowboy Town

5  --      Practice Range

6  --      3-bays

7  --      300 yard range

8  --      Archery Range

 

Acronyms - What the heck do they mean!!???!!?!? 

Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
