High Raw Score 195-6X, Fred Roe Schmidt-Rubin K31

1st Place 198-6X, 198-6X, Fred Roe Schmidt-Rubin K31

2d Place 198-1X, Ray Ellington - Schmidt-Rubin K31

3rd Place 198-0X, Chris Bach – M1909 Argentine Mauser

Note that the top three scores were tied, broken only by “X”-count.

Unique Rifle Challenge Winner 198-6X, Fred Roe Schmidt-Rubin K31, with Terry Beachler and Keith Kohler as runners up.

This challenge was open to anybody shooting a model of rifle that no other competitor was shooting, and we had 16 different models of rifles shot on November 13th, making the firing line quite a museum of rifle types.

Next month’s match is December 11th.  Mauser Matches are informal centerfire rifle matches fired from standing at 50 meters on the NRA SR-1 target with open sights, or with unimproved pre-1964 military bolt-action repeaters.  For any additional details, call Max Koehl at 385-1033.

Sister Club News

Schuetzengilde Treuenbrietzen.  Results of the 2010 Hubertusschiessen in Treuenbrietzen, a .22 cal., 15-shot, one-handed Pistol match fired at 25 meters -  First Place: Walter Wildgrube, Second Place: Timo Sieberhein, Third Place: Birger “Egon” Peplau.  Congratulations to all winners.  Each of these winners has been a guest of ours here in Illinois, and Timo finished only one point out of first place.  It is also significant to note that the winner, Walter Wildgrube, is recovering from a bad circular saw accident to his shooting hand, that resulted in the amputation of the small finger and multiple reconstructive surgeries to his middle finger.  We are happy to see that the recovery is going well enough for Walter to shoot winning scores again already.  Walter sends warm greetings to his shooting brothers and sisters of the Chillicothe Sportsmen's Club.

Some Germanic trivia: the Hubertusschiessen is the St Hubert's Shoot, named for the patron saint of Hunting whose traditional symbol is the head of a red deer stag with a glowing cross between the antlers.  Legend has it that Hubert was converted to Christianity while hunting and seeing a glowing cross between the antlers of his would-be target.  You may have seen this symbol in many places in Germany, especially in primarily Catholic areas - - or on a bottle of Jaegermeister.

Alles Gute! Paul Bishop
