New Year's Day Shoot: We tried something different this year and had a
Bird Shoot (Wooden Eagle Target), only we used Mauser Match type rifles instead
of .22s this time. Congrats to Dave Hale for firing the shot
that dropped the bird, after he and the two dozen or so other
participants softened up the bird with around 288 shots. It was a chilly
morning, but the good spirits that accompany a new year -- well, that and a
couple of fires -- kept the frostbite and hypothermia at bay. Thank
you to Max Koehl, Terry Beachler and John Wiesbrock for contructing and
painting the Eagle.
