CSC Grounds Mowing Bids:  Bids are being solicited for the 2008 grounds mowing season.  Contact Cliff Wilcox, Grounds Chairman, @ 309/579-2793, for details and specifications.

 

Trap ATA Shoot, Saturday, March 22, 9:00 A.M.  Range #1 will be closed during this event.

Trap League Signup, Saturday, March 29, 10 A.M., with League starting April 3.

 

E-MAIL ADDRESS CHANGES:  Some of us have changed or will be changing our e-mail address.  Please notify Tim Vik, our Club Webmaster, webmaster@chillisportsmen.org  if yours has changed.  This will be especially important to the INSIGHTBB.COM customers who will have to change over to COMCAST.NET about the end of the February.  Other address recipients, if you are no longer receiving your monthly newsletter via e-mail and have previously provided your e-mail address, please e-mail it again to Tim so that we can get everyone updated.

 

CSC again is accepting new annual members.  Applications will be acted upon at the monthly Board Meetings.  Total first year fees for new annual members are $105.00.

 

Don’t forget the YSSI Weekend set for April 18-20.  Help will be appreciated in all areas.

NMO ORIENTATION 

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION (NMO):  An (**) in your middle initial area means you need to attend to obtain your 2008 card & gate key.  Check the enclosed calendar for dates & times.  ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED OR NO INSTRUCTOR WILL BE AT THE CLUB FOR THE CLASS.  To make your class attendance reservation or to ask any questions - Contact Charles Varnold at (309) 697-6766 or via e-mail at tunaot@insightbb.com/

 

GUN SHOW

The CSC semi-annual gun show is scheduled for the April 5 & 6 weekend in the Clubhouse.  Show times are:

Saturday, April 5, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. & Sunday, April 6, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Work Party Dates are set for Friday, April 4, 9:00 a.m. till done for building cleanup, Show setup, Dealer setup; and Sunday, April 6, after the show closes, for Show takedown, help Dealer’s move out, building cleanup.  Work Hour Credits will be given.

Desserts (Pies & Cakes ONLY) are also needed for the Show Kitchen.  Work Hour Credits will be given for help and desserts (3/4 hour per dessert provided).  Make sure your desserts are in containers you do not want back.

MAUSER MATCHES

Mauser Match rules are casual center-fire off-hand rifle matches at 50 meters for rifles with open sights and pre-1964 military bolt action repeaters.

February 9 match results:

March 8 Special Challenge Match is “Eagle-Eye” challenge.  You fire your first relay with no sighting shots and no spotting scope allowed.

CMP MATCHES

CMP matches re-start Saturday, April 5, 2008.  RSO’s and other volunteers are needed for the monthly matches.  Ammunition costs have risen dramatically since last fall.  Ammunition purchases from the Club for the 60-round relays will be $18.00 (223), $22.00 (30-06), and $30.00 (308).

The YSSI weekend is on Saturday, April 19.  Volunteers are needed to help instruct and coach the youth on the line and to ensure safety.  Staplers and some firearms are also needed.

TEMPORARILY AWAY FROM HOME/NEW ADDRESS

Are you going to be “TEMPORARILY AWAY(maybe for the winter, an extended vacation or job demands)?  More and more monthly newsletters are being returned to the Club marked as “TEMPORARILY AWAY”!  When you notify the Post Office that you are going to be “TEMPORARILY AWAY” they will ONLY HOLD or FORWARD 1ST CLASS MAIL.  All other mail is returned to the sender.  Your monthly newsletter is mailed to you using Bulk Rate Postage.  Consequently, your newsletter is returned to the Club marked POSTAGE DUE @ $ .41 which the Club has to pay to retrieve it.  These newsletters cannot be forwarded, as we do not know where to send them.

Members that have “MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS and have not notified the Club of their NEW ADDRESS also have their newsletters returned marked POSTAGE DUE @ $ .41.  The Post Office will not forward these newsletters.  The Club then pays another $ .41 postage to forward it to you and updates your file to reflect your new address.  Please notify the Club when you move!

The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line at www.chillisportsmen.org  The website also lists all Club ACTIVIITIES, events, and contains periodically updated general information as well as the current CSC Membership Application. Acronyms - What the heck do they mean!!???!!?!?

Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
