RANGES 3, 4 & 5 WILL BE CLOSED SATURDAY & SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14 & 15, 2004, FOR THE ARCHERY ANNUAL SNOW BIRD SHOOT.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

If you Annual Members have not paid your 2004 renewal fees yet, this will be your last newsletter.  Fees not paid by February 1st by any member will be assessed a $10/month late fee.

Annual Members:  Dues $50, Land Fund $10 and 10 work hours or $10 for every work hour not worked.  Annual Members with no work hours will have a renewal fee of $160 for 2004.

Associate Life Members:  Land Fund $10 and 10 work hours or $10 for every work hour not worked.  Associate Life Members with no work hours will have a renewal fee of $110 for 2004.

Life Members:  Land Fund $10 and 10 work hours or $10 for every hour not worked.  Life Members under the age of 65 with no work hours will have a renewal fee of $110 for 2004.  Life Members over the age of 65 are EXEMPT from the 10 work hours requirement and will have a $10 Land Fund renewal fee for 2004.

Please be sure to return your 2003 membership card with your dues and/or fees even if you don’t have any or only partial work hour credits.  This includes both non-renewing and renewing Annual Members, Associate Life Members, and Life Members (both under and over 65) all with or without work hours.  We need your membership cards for our records.  Thank you.

It is not absolutely necessary to return your old gate key, however old gate keys in good condition can be re-keyed.  It would be appreciated if you would deposit your old keys in the mailbox in front of the Club House.  This action will help save the Club money.  Thank you.

INDOOR RANGE WORK DAY – Feb. 14

An Indoor Range Cleanup Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 14th, @ 9a.m.  Contact Dean Martin @ (309) 691-5251 for details.

ARCHERY

ANNUAL SNOW BIRD SHOOT:  The annual Snow Bird Shoot will happen on February 15th at the Clubhouse.  Registration will be from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Setup will be done on the 14th.  Those interested in helping with the setup and/or takedown or questions -- contact Fred Anderson @ (309)579-3250; Larry Pollack @ (309)274-9653; Greg Howald @ (309)657-7002.

Results of the January competition, based on the newly instituted handicap system were:

EXPERTISE NEEDED

Do you have any expertise and tools in any specific area that could assist your Club?  Examples are Plumbing, Roofing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Tuck Pointing, Electrical, Painting, etc.  Our major problem at this time is PLUMBING in the Clubhouse.  The Club will furnish the necessary materials and WORK HOURS will be credited.

NRA Basic Handgun Safety Education Class

Do you own a pistol or revolver?

Do you feel that you need some Basic Training / Education on using your handgun properly and safely?  If so ---

CSC is hosting a NRA BASIC PISTOL CLASS during the week of March 15 – 21, 2004, in the Clubhouse.  Class dates and times are:

Monday – March 15          7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  --  classroom

Thursday – March 18        7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  --  classroom

Friday – March 19          7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  --  classroom

Saturday – March 20        9:00 a.m. to Noon or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  --  range

Sunday – March 21          9:00 a.m. to Noon or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  --  range

Cost is $35.00 per participant.  (Fees due by March 1)    Maximum of 30 participants.

YSSI Shooting Sports Invitational Weekend

The 4th annual YSSI Weekend is set for April 23-25, 2004, at the Club Grounds.  Volunteer HELP is needed on the RANGES (22 rifle, shotgun, archery, high-power rifle, muzzle-loading rifle, buffalo shooting, in the KITCHEN (cooks and cleanup), and as Group GUIDES to the various event stations.  Work hours will be credited.  Questions – contact Bob Bjerke @ (309) 692-1800.

If you have moved, or are moving, please let us know your new address.    Please mail your new address to the Club at P.O. Box 13, Chillicothe, IL 61523 or call one of our officers with it.  If you call and get an answering machine, please leave your telephone number also.  Sometimes the machines are unable to clearly record your message.  Thanks.

TRAP NEWS

If you are interested in ordering reloading supplies, we are putting together an order that will be turned in by February 22, 2004.  Contact me at the Trap Range on Thursday evenings or on the 1st or 3rd Sunday afternoons or call me at home after 6:00 p.m. daily except Thursday evenings.  Dale Schroeder @ (309) 274-3082.

NOTE:  PLEASE PUT THE PICNIC TABLES AND/OR GUN RACKS BACK WHERE THEY BELONG ON THE TRAP RANGE IF YOU NEED TO MOVE THEM WHILE YOU ARE THERE USING THE RANGE.  ALSO, PLEASE CLEAN UPANY MESS THAT YOU LEAVE (HULLS & BOXES, ETC).  PUT THE TRASH IN THE TRASH CANS PROVIDED.   THANKS – DALE.

It is NOT TOO EARLY to start thinking about the upcoming Trap League.  The League meeting is in early April (Sat, April 3, 11 AM) and League starts Thursday, April 8, 6:00 PM.  Get your team members lined up.  If you do not have a team and want to shoot, come on out and put your name on the list.

SPECIAL LONG RANGE RIFLE SHOOT

   On Sunday, February 22, starting @ 11:AM, I will be running a Special Long Range Rifle Match on the 200 yard Rifle Range.  The course of fire will consist of 4 strings of 5 shots each.  The targets will be a combination of Pepper Poppers, Bowling Pins, Clay Birds and an 8” Pie Plate.  The shooting distances will be from 75 yards to 200 yards.  The shooting positions will include Standing, Sitting, Kneeling and Prone.  Rifles will be divided into two (2) classes -- Manual & Semi-Automatic.  Cost will be $5.00 to defray target costs and you will receive the match results.  Questions – call me, Chuck Hoelscher @ (309) 745-5021 or e-mail me @ chuxgun@msn.com.

INDOOR BOWLING PIN SHOOT

   Hand Gunners!! – Come Out and try this new Indoor Event.  SPECIAL BOWLING PIN SETS have been obtained for this Indoor Event.  ONLY ROUND BALL AMMO WILL BE PERMITTED IN  THIS EVENT.  NO HOLLOW POINT AMMO.  The ammunition requirements are necessary to prevent premature destruction of the Special Bowling Pins.

   The 1st date will be Sunday, January 25 @ 1:00 PM, Club House Range (you may not receive this newsletter in time).

   The 2nd date will be Sunday, February 15, @ 1:00 PM, Club House Range.

RANGE RULES MEETING – TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10 – 6:30 P.M.

   Various members have asked questions and requested clarifications about the recently instituted New CSC RANGE RULES.  As a result of the members’ concerns and requests, the BOARD will try to explain, clarify, discuss with, and possibly consider modifications of these Range Rules at its February 10, Board Meeting.  The meeting will start at 6:30 PM in the CSC Clubhouse.

Proposed Steel Targets – ADDITIONAL RULES FOR SHOOTING AT STEEL AT LESS THAN 25 YARDS will also be incorporated into the agenda.

If you have any reasonable input to offer, you need to attend this meeting and offer your input.  THIS MEETING IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY.  USE IT!

CLUB WEB SITE & E-MAIL NOTICE

   The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line.  Back issues of the newsletter are available as well and the club activities information are periodically updated.  Check it out.  The web site address is listed at the top of each monthly newsletter.

Many of you newer members and some of you older members have provided the Club with your e-mail address.  The Club will be e-mailing you your monthly newsletter.  If you have provided your e-mail address and have not received your monthly newsletter via e-mail, please let us know via e-mail so that we can get your correct e-mail address. (Some of the e-mailed newsletters have come back as undeliverable due to a bad e-mail address)  You will also continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, until we hear from you that the e-mail version is sufficient.  The Club can then delete your name from the club newsletter printing and mailing list.  This will save the Club money (just over $.50 per).  Tim Vik is the CLUB WEBMASTER and E-MAIL coordinator.  His E-MAIL address is sprtsman@mtco.com.  Thanks!!
