Thanks to all of you members and your friends who contacted your State Senators and Representatives and POLITELY told them to VOTE NO on the pending bills that would destroy your rights to legally own most of the currently legal firearms within the State of Illinois.  Keep up the good work.  Please remember to make periodic POLITE and FRIENDLY written/telephonic reminders to them about your position on proposed firearms related issues.  Their local telephone numbers are listed in your telephone book.  Their office can give you their Springfield telephone number and email address.

 TRAP NEWS

The second annual John Bartley Memorial Shoot is scheduled for Saturday, June 7 (Sporting Clays) at Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club and Sunday, June 8 (Trap) at CSC with rain dates set for June 21 & 22, if needed.  For more information and to pre-register contact – Arnie Burger at (309) 685-6765.

Remember that the Thursday evening Trap League and Sunday morning Trap Shoots can usually accommodate extra interested shooters.  Questions – contact Dale Schroeder @ (309) 274-3082.

ARCHERY NEWS

There will be a work party at the Archery Range on Sunday June 29th at 7:00 am until 12:00. We are looking for volunteers that need a few work hours. Items that will be needed are weed eaters, chain saws, posthole diggers and a lot of muscles and sweat. We will be working on the garage across from the club house, some of the trails on the archery range, some painting and installing a couple of gates. If you would like to help please contact me and let me know that you will be there. You can just show up on that morning if you would like to. You can call me at

The next Archery 3-D shoot is Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22. 

BULLET CASTERS

Lead has been salvaged from the indoor range back stop.  The lead has been cast into ingots weighing just over one pound each.  THESE INGOTS ARE FOR SALE @ $0.25 PER INGOT.  INGOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.  If you desire some re-casting lead, contact Dean Martin @ 309/691-5251.

OUTDOOR PISTOL PRACTICE

Weekly practice begins at 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday afternoons on Range 1.

OUTDOOR BULLSEYE

This event continues on Thursday evenings, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

BOWLING PIN SHOOTS

The monthly Bowling Pin Shooting Competition continues on the 2nd Saturday, at 9:00 a.m.


MAUSER MATCHES

Mauser Matches: are held on range #1 on Saturdays at 10 AM.  Future matches are: June 28th, July 26th, August 23, September 27.  Matches then go back to the 2nd Saturday of the month beginning with October 11.  Rules: 50 meters, open sights, center-fire, 20 shots standing per relay, re-entry.  Questions, call Max Koehl @ (309) 385-1033.

CLUB WEB SITE & E-MAIL NOTICE

   The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line.  Back issues of the newsletter are available as well and the club activities information are periodically updated.  Check it out.  The web site address is listed at the top of each monthly newsletter.

Many of you newer members and some of you older members have provided the Club with your email address.  The Club will be emailing you your monthly newsletter.  You will also continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, until we hear from you that the email version is sufficient.  Please let us know that you received your email version and it is sufficient so that the Club can delete your name from the club newsletter printing and mailing list.  This will save the Club money.  Tim Vik, is the CLUB WEBMASTER and E-MAIL coordinator.  His E-MAIL address is sprtsman@mtco.com.  Thanks!!

Acronyms - What the heck do they mean!!???!!?!?

Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
